Do all lawyers do pro bono work and how do they decide which cases?

If the lawyer is a family friend will they do pro bono work or is it just for the needy? Would they lower their rates in that situation or would it be the same because of opportunity cost?

It’s up to the lawyer. They sometimes lower the rate for a family friend.

No, not all lawyers will do pro bono work.

It’s fairly common for them to do pro bono work for family friends, but asking them could also be considered abusing the friendship.

There’s really no difference between a lawyer doing pro bono work and anyone else doing what they do for a living, as a favor. So, you know, what do you do? Are you a graphic designer? If so, how would you feel if your friend came up to you and said “I’d like you to do $1,000 worth of graphic design for me for free because we’re friends”?

There’s no single answer to that; some people will say “Absolutely, we’re friends and friends help each other out,” and some people will say “A real friend wouldn’t ask for something like that.”

All lawyers do pro bono work…

In some states, it is required every year as part of their license…

For me, I do it for clients who can’t afford me and whose case I believe in…

Everyone has their own way of choosing.

Well not all lawyers do pro bono actually not a lot do

.Same as not all lawyers do legal aid .

There is some firms though that only do pro bono and sue people and companies and take out law suits

they get their cut out of the winnings from the case .Most of them look at your case and if they think your a chance of winning they will take it on

.Personally but if i was you i would ring the law society which is free and get advice of them over the phone .They will also have a list of lawyers that do pro bono and send it to you… good luck

Not all lawyers do pro bono work, in particular for friends because of the abuse of the kindness it would engender in others, although they would be more likely to give a discount. However, in general, larger firms as opposed to solo or partnership practices tend to take on limited pro bono cases based on their merit. In other words, if the attorney believes the suit is for a good cause and can earn damages or at least legal fees from the opposing party in compensation, he/she might take it. All lawyers do pro bono work of some kind. In some places it is required and some firms require their attorneys to put in a certain number of hours too.

If an attorney wants to work for family/friends, it’s up to them how generous they want to be if it’s on their own time.
