I would like to work in politics here in Houston, Texas. I do not want to run for office or anything. I want to work with campaigns, and be on some kind of board, you know just have my voice heard about local issues. I just have no idea what kind of jobs or positions there are. I’m a junior at my university as a Political Science major. I want to have a job I enjoy, but at the same time I want to make good money. Its either local politics or being a lawyer. Any suggestions?

It seems that a lot of local and higher political officials started as lawyers; but practicing law will not give you much time to work on campaigns and get involved in grass root issues. Although, having a law degree is always helpful when working in politics.
Try getting into an internship in a nonprofit organization in the community that addresses and give resources to local issues that are of interest to you. Working with a nonprofit organization will help you network and build grass root issues in the community.
Find a job that YOU will be able to enjoy and yet have flexibility in combining your interests with your career role.
Sometimes, YOU have to be creative and create your own career that will be able to support you and remain fulfilling and rewarding. Managing or founding a nonprofit organization can be very challenging and interesting because it’s all about grass root issues and politics.
GOOD LUCK!
GOD BLESS! AMEN SHALOM!
