Cenk Uygur speaks with Senator Tom Harkin about fighting against the Republicans attempting to repeal health care reform and fighting against President Obama if he comes out in support of cutting social security benefits. Cenk Uygur: Real quick, the Democrats didn’t they have enough votes in the beginning of the session to do it on their own? What happened? Who’d you lose? Sen. Tom Harkin: Why couldn’t the Democrats hold it together then? Well, why couldn’t the Democrats hold it together? Because we didn’t have the White House on our side. We couldn’t get the people together to understand that we won’t be able to get our programs enacted unless we have a change in these rules. You know what it is, Cenk more than anything else. People are afraid of a majority vote. I’m not afraid of a majority vote, I’m not afraid of that.

I love you, Tom Harkin.

I would love to have Senators vote on a law that has been ruled unconstitutional then defend that vote next year during the election. The Progressive ones don’t care though as long as the law gives them power and control they don’t care how illegal the law is.
From the moment Olbermann got thrown out Cenk has acted like he’s been castrated.

Wow this Senator is a breath of fresh air. There’s some hope I suppose.

@phoboskitty
Well said.
It seems like Harper is Bush Lite, and the rest are watered down versions of Obama
We are a peaceful country …. mainly …unless you fuck with our Hockey or reduce Beer alcohol content!

@ebrithil212

Our conservatism is spending Billions on new jails

@BorakOBummer no
in fact i hate the french…them and their escargot…anyways jokes aside my point is that you can be socialist as you say, and yet still be a capitalist. PEACE YO
#10 by BorakOBummer on 12/02/2011 - 8:38 PM
@TheDybbob89 He’s a Socialist….not communist. And since you’re from Canada…..you could be French.
#11 by TheDybbob89 on 12/02/2011 - 9:18 PM
@BorakOBummer ok you win! hes a Communist, but that only means you’re a Nazi! That makes me the French oui oui!
#12 by BorakOBummer on 12/02/2011 - 10:08 PM
@TheDybbob89 He is a socialist. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Just listen to him for a little time at all and he reveals himself. Socialism is alive and well and so is Communism so don’t let it get to you……. it is what it is.
#13 by MTVVH1sucks on 12/02/2011 - 11:01 PM
filibuster reform is the only way to fix washington and that is the last thing corporate america wants
#14 by TheDybbob89 on 12/02/2011 - 11:42 PM
@BorakOBummer stop labeling him god damit!!! The best thing you could do is look at things through facts and not feelings. Im sometimes to the right and other times to the left…so what…man honestly just ask yourself how many generations ago were communism and conservatism and all these ideologies formed? They were all made in a different era where people acted differently and thought differently, right? Anyways you calling him a socialist probably insulted the commies lol
#15 by BorakOBummer on 12/03/2011 - 12:41 AM
@TheDybbob89 It is what it is my friend. If it walks like a socialist….talks like a socialist and works for MSNBC…..its a frickin’ socialist. Socialist isn’t meant to be funny.
#16 by TheDybbob89 on 12/03/2011 - 1:23 AM
@BorakOBummer no lol. first off he’s Turkish. Second off he lives the educated person’s life. We of the educated world don’t care for Conservative or Liberal. We do what makes sense through facts and figures, and also morals. In other words we live in a democracy run by capitalism. The democracy part explains his “liberal” view-point and the capitalism part explains his successful business. Stop labeling him a socialist or w.e thats so old its not even funny anymore.
#17 by 2punchpikey on 12/03/2011 - 2:13 AM
@BorakOBummer How can a media outlet be described in economic terms?
#18 by 2punchpikey on 12/03/2011 - 2:58 AM
This guy is awesome (as long as he keeps this attitude) and he sounds like Bob Barker.
#19 by BorakOBummer on 12/03/2011 - 3:10 AM
Love how Cenk the iranian socialist calls the liberal socialists progressives. Come on Cenk……. everyone knows it means SOCIALISTS. This is a bastion of socialists like the socialist cable channel MSNBC. Though Cenk promotes socialism…..he’s living the Capitalist dream. All the way to the bank eh Cenk.
#20 by BorakOBummer on 12/03/2011 - 3:37 AM
Love coming here to the hole of liberal socialists who rant to each other about how bad things are going. LOVE IT! I suppose you’ll blame Republicans when the courts rule Obama socialist care unconstitutional. And you’ll all get on board with the rhetoric. We’ve got Obama socialist healthcare in our CROSSHAIRS and we’re TARGETING it to be DESTROYED by the ROOTS. State will sue to get a ruling as unconstitutional. Republicans will vote to Repeal. We’ll Defund it. Its good as gone! :0)
#21 by phoboskitty on 12/03/2011 - 3:47 AM
@Joxman2k the Conservatives had their chance and fucked it up, they are dragging Canadians into a dark hole, we might be able to get rid of them if they stopped proroguing parliament. it doesn’t help that the NDP and Liberals are basically useless
#22 by Try2MakeSenseOrSTFU on 12/03/2011 - 4:47 AM
Damn. It sure is refreshing to see Democrats who fight for what they believe in.
#23 by kurd55 on 12/03/2011 - 4:58 AM
Republicans are assholes–plain and simple. They’re proof that there is no god–’cause if there was, these bastards would all be fried by bolts of lightning.
#24 by freshhug on 12/03/2011 - 5:57 AM
@hmongboi206
Because he isn’t taking money from the right people.
#25 by ebrithil212 on 12/03/2011 - 6:08 AM
@Joxman2k this is also kind of misleading. in america its extreme liberals vs extreme conservatives. in canada its like liberals vs. slightly less liberals
