He was the long time CEO of GE. He completely turned around the culture of the company. When he first became CEO, the company wasn’t doing well. He brought several new ideas. One was Six Sigma, which is a strive towards high quality in all areas, The other was being number 1 or 2 in every market. GE runs many different lines of business and he determined that if you weren’t number 1 or number 2, the company wasn’t going to make money.
He did get a lot of criticism for laying off people, but he was a great manager.
His efforts led to the stock soaring and GE is considered to be one of the great US companies.
